The Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E) was started on January 20th, 2025

by president Donald J. Trump. It was created to reduce spending and debt, and increase

efficiency within government programs. The department is run by Elon Musk, founder of Tesla

and President Trump’s Senior Advisor. It posts daily updates on its X account and its official

website. D.O.G.E’s latest update* is as follows: “An initial survey of Unemployment Insurance

claims since 2020 revealed the following: 24.5k people over 115 years old claimed $59M in

benefits, 28k people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254M in benefits, 9.7k people with

birth dates over 15 years in the future claimed $69M in benefits. In one case, someone with a

birthday in 2154 claimed $41k” The D.O.G.E website also claims to have saved the government

$150B since it was created*. It also shows every terminated contract, grant, and lease since it

was created. I think creating this department was a great move by the president, because

cutting spending in the government will hopefully allow us to recover from our debt, and it will
